Scope & Purpose
The Scientific Committee invites the submission of original abstracts for oral or poster presentations at SCFMS 2026. These guidelines are designed to streamline the submission process and ensure that all presented work reflects the highest standards of scientific quality, clinical relevance, and ethical integrity.

General Submission Criteria
- Language
- All abstracts must be written in clear, grammatically correct, academic English.
- Word Count
- The body of the abstract must be strictly between 250 and 300 words. (Title, authors, and affiliations are excluded from the word count).
- Keywords
- Provide 3 to 5 relevant keywords to facilitate indexing and session scheduling.
- Abbreviations
- Standard medical/scientific abbreviations must be defined upon first use.
- Originality
- Submissions must present work that has not been previously published or presented at another major international conference prior to SCFMS 2026.
- Note
- Abstracts failing to meet basic formatting or word count limits may be automatically rejected without entering the peer-review phase.

Abstract Categories & Mandatory Layouts
Authors must select the most appropriate category for their presentation. To ensure a uniform review, abstracts must utilize a structured format using the exact headers below:
- Category A: Original Research

Best suited for experimental studies, laboratory investigations, toxicological research, and technological validation trials.
Mandatory Layout:
- Background & Rationale:
- Briefly introduce the context and the specific forensic or clinical problem addressed.
- Objectives:
- State the precise aim, question, or hypothesis of the study.
- Methods:
- Summarize the study design, study population/sample size, and the primary analytical or diagnostic techniques used.
- Results:
- Highlight the key findings with clear, objective data. Vague phrases like "results will be discussed" are not acceptable.
- Conclusion & Impact:
- State the main takeaway and its direct significance to the advancement of forensic science or justice systems.
- Category B: Review Articles & Systematic Overviews

Best suited for high-level syntheses of emerging forensic technologies, policy
implications, or comprehensive analyses of forensic methodologies.

- Background & Rationale:
- Provide a concise overview of the topic and the rationale for the review.
- Objectives:
- Clearly state the review questions or the scope of the systematic overview.
- Methods:
- Describe the search strategy, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and data synthesis methods.
- Results:
- Summarize the main findings, trends, or gaps identified in the literature.
- Conclusion & Recommendations:
- Present the overall conclusions and any recommendations for practice, policy, or future research.
- Category C: Case Reports & Series

Best suited for unique or instructive cases that highlight diagnostic challenges, novel forensic applications, or ethical dilemmas.
Mandatory Layout:
- Introduction:
- Briefly introduce the case's significance or the unique aspect it presents.
- Case Presentation:
- Detail the relevant history, findings, and forensic investigations conducted.
- Discussion:
- Analyze the case in the context of existing literature, highlighting lessons learned or implications.
- Conclusion:
- Summarize the key takeaways and their relevance to forensic practice.

Submission Process
All abstracts must be submitted electronically via the official conference submission portal.
- Online Submission
- Access the portal through the SCFMS 2026 website.
- Account Creation
- First-time users will need to create an account.
- Step-by-Step Guidance
- Follow the instructions on the portal to complete your submission, including author details, affiliations, abstract text, and category selection.
- Confirmation
- A confirmation email will be sent upon successful submission.

Review & Notification
All submitted abstracts will undergo a rigorous peer-review process by the Scientific Committee.
- Peer Review
- Abstracts will be evaluated based on scientific merit, originality, relevance to forensic sciences, and clarity of presentation.
- Notification
- Authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection by 15th September 2026. Further instructions regarding presentation format (oral or poster) will be provided at that time.

Presentation Format
Accepted abstracts will be designated for either oral or poster presentation.
- Oral Presentations
- Selected abstracts will be presented in dedicated scientific sessions. Presenters will be allocated a specific time slot for their presentation and Q&A.
- Poster Presentations
- Authors will be required to prepare a physical poster for display during designated poster sessions. Specific guidelines for poster dimensions and content will be provided upon acceptance.

Publication
All accepted and presented abstracts will be published in the official conference proceedings.
- Journal Publication
- Selected high-quality abstracts may be invited for submission as full papers to a special issue of a peer-reviewed journal affiliated with SCFMS 2026.

Ethics, Disclosures, & Compliance
- Patient Anonymity
- For all clinical data and Case Reports, strict patient confidentiality must be maintained. No identifiable personal information, names, or specific institutional tracking numbers should appear in the text.
- Ethical Approvals
- Authors must ensure their work complies with international ethical standards. Where applicable, studies involving human subjects or animal models should have received Institutional Review Board (IRB) or ethical committee clearance.
- Conflict of Interest
- Any commercial or financial relationships relevant to the abstract content must be disclosed during the online submission process.
